On this tour you will learn about the Soviet and other Cold War spies that have been active in this part of the City. We will start off by learning about some important Soviet handlers including Gaik “the Puppetmaster” Ovakimian, Jacob Golos, and Elizabeth Bentley. With that foundation we’ll move on to other characters that include a schoolteacher that soured diplomatic relations for decades, Earnest Hemingway, a leggy South African seductress, the couple next door that stole atomic bomb plans, and many more!

Closest subway stop is the 5^th Avenue NRW (Yellow Line). Exit the station, navigate to 5^th Ave (runs along the eastern side of Central Park) and walk one block north to the northwest corner of the intersection with E. 61^st Street.

Dress for the weather

NYC gets all four seasons. Please check the weather forecast both before and on the day of your scheduled tour. Keep in mind that the tours last between 1.5 to to 2 hours.

COVID Policies

As of now it is considered safe to not wear a mask outside in NYC if you are fully vaccinated. Tour participants are not expected to wear masks or socially distance, except for the inside portions of our Grand Central Tour and tours that take place outside after dark (no UV light). We do not check the vaccination status of tour participants. All participants do so at their own risk.

When the facts change, we change our policies. This portion of the site will be updated as new information and guidance from public health authorities becomes available.

Cancellation Policies

For a full refund, cancellations should be made within 2 hours of the respective tour start time. Please email tours@nerdherdtours.com to cancel. A call/text to 646 854 9242 will be appreciated.
